Biography

Andrew Chou, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He is double board-certified in emergency medicine and pre-hospital emergency medical services (EMS). 

Dr. Chou earned his medical degree at the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham, AL and completed residency training in emergency medicine at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, OH. He received advanced training in EMS through a fellowship at UT Southwestern and joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2019.

Currently, Dr. Chou serves as the Deputy Medical Director for the Dallas Fire-Rescue Department and the UTSW/Parkland BioTel EMS System, which provides unified medical direction for multiple North Texas city EMS agencies. He also serves as the Assistant Medical Director for the American Airlines Center (home of the NBA Dallas Mavericks and NHL Dallas Stars) as well as a lead Game-Day Emergency Physician for the Dallas Stars.

Dr. Chou’s interests within pre-hospital emergency care include airway management, simulation education, out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, and event medicine.

He is a member of multiple professional organizations, including the National Association of EMS Physicians,  Society of Academic Emergency Medicine, Texas Medical Association, and Dallas County Medical Society.
