Biography

Andrew Chou, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He specializes in emergency medicine and emergency medical services (EMS). 

Dr. Chou earned his medical degree at the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham, AL and completed residency training in emergency medicine at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, OH. He received advanced training in EMS through a fellowship at UT Southwestern and subsequently joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2019.

Currently, Dr. Chou serves as the Deputy Medical Director for the Dallas Fire-Rescue Department and the UTSW/Parkland BioTel EMS System, which provides unified medical direction for multiple North Texas city EMS agencies.

Dr. Chou’s academic interests within prehospital emergency care include airway management, simulation education, out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, psychiatric emergencies, and community paramedicine.

He is a member of multiple professional organizations, including the National Association of EMS Physicians, the Texas Medical Association, and the Dallas County Medical Society.
