  • Biography

    Ramy Goueli, M.D., M.H.S., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Urology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He specializes in voiding dysfunction, urinary incontinence, benign prostatic diseases, bladder outlet obstruction, geriatric urology, female pelvic floor disorders, and neuro-urology.

    Dr. Goueli earned his medical degree at the Yale School of Medicine. He completed his residency in urology at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital and gained advanced training in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery through a fellowship at UT Southwestern. He also holds a master’s degree in health sciences from Yale.

    He joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2021.

    Dr. Goueli’s research interests include the effect of neurologic diseases and outlet obstruction on the underlying mechanics of the bladder. Additionally, in the laboratory, he is working to develop a deeper understanding of the insults involved in the pathogenesis of bladder dysfunction, with an interest in overactive bladder; urge incontinence, with a particular emphasis on underactive bladder; and the methods to properly diagnose, stratify, and treat these processes.

    He has published numerous peer-reviewed articles and co-authored chapters in the books Practical Guide to Botulinum Toxin Injection and Female Pelvic Surgery.

    Dr. Goueli is a member of the American Urological Association and the International Continence Society.

    Among other honors, he received the Distinguished House Staff Award from NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center.
