  • Biography

Junyu "Richard" Guo, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Radiology at UT Southwestern Medical Center, and a member of its Radiology Research Division.

Dr. Guo received a bachelor's degree in physics from Beijing Jiaotong University, and a master's degree in physics from Tsinghua University, both in Beijing, China. He then obtained a doctoral degree in physics from the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, before embarking on a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in Philadelphia.

Prior to joining the UT Southwestern faculty in 2019, Dr. Guo served as a research scientist at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

Dr. Guo holds patents for developing a method and system for parallel reconstruction in the K-space domain for application in imaging systems, and for T2 spectral analysis for Myelin Water Imaging. His research interests include Deep Learning in magnetic resonance imaging, magnetic resonance spectroscopic imaging (MRSI), magnetic resonance imaging reconstruction, and dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI).

In addition to contributing a chapter to a textbook on computed tomography and magnetic resonance of the whole body, he has also published 24 original research articles, created more than 50 abstracts, and has been invited to present his research findings at meetings and conferences throughout the United States and around the world.
