Xiaotong Zhu, Ph.D. Assistant Instructor School Medical School Department Center for Human Nutrition | Internal Medicine Biography Xiaotong Zhu obtained her B.S. degree from China Pharmaceutical University in 2011, followed by a Ph.D. from the Institute of Biophysics at the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2017. From 2017 to 2018, she pursued postdoctoral research at the Institute of Biophysics, focusing on the mechanistic studies of how one-carbon metabolism influences lipid metabolism. From 2018 to 2024, she was a postdoctoral fellow in Jay Horton’s lab at the Center for Human Nutrition at UT Southwestern, where she focused on molecular and metabolic mechanisms underlying excessive fat accumulation in the liver. Following that, she was appointed as an Assistant Instructor in Jay Horton’s lab at the Center for Human Nutrition, with a secondary appointment in Department of Internal Medicine. Her current research project aims to elucidate enzyme phase alterations involved in lipogenesis.
