  • Biography

    Joined UT Southwestern: 2020

    Ranier Reyes, M.D., is a board-certified neurologist who cares for patients in the neuroscience intensive care unit (NSICU) at Clements University Hospital and Parkland Memorial Hospital

    Clinical Interests: He specializes in the care of critically ill patients with neurological and neurosurgical disorders and has particular interests in cerebral edema, death by neurological criteria (brain death), and medical/simulation education and wellness. 

    Trainee Education: Dr. Reyes serves as the program director of the Neurocritical Care Fellowship at UT Southwestern and serves to mentor trainees into expert clinicians and academicians. His vision for the program centers on supporting and cultivating the comprehensive development of fellows through indvidualized education and mentorship - building a foundation of clinical excellence and shaping fellows into dedicated educators and servant leaders who combine academic achievement with humility and compassion.

    Dr. Reyes was born in Houston, TX, and earned a B.S. in Neuroscience from Baylor University in Waco, TX. He obtained his medical degree from The University of Texas at Houston (now McGovern Medical School) and completed residency training in Neurology at Baylor College of Medicine, followed by a fellowship in neurocritical care at UT Southwestern Medical Center.

    He is a diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology and is ACGME board-certified in Neurocritical Care.
