Amin Amin, M.D.

Amin, Amin, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a member of its Division of Digestive and Liver Diseases. He specializes in general gastroenterology, general hepatology and obesity medicine. His main disease of interest is Metabolic associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) showcasing a commitment to advancing liver health.

Dr. Amin earned his medical degree at the University of Leicester School of Medicine with honors in the United Kingdom. He initially undertook Post-doctoral training in metabolic science and clinical residency training in general surgery at the University Hospitals of Birmingham, England. He furthered his post-doctoral training in Metabolic associated steatotic liver disease at the University of California, San Francisco before joining UT Southwestern’s Physician Scientist Training Program and completing residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship training in Gastroenterology and Hepatology with additional training in obesity medicine.

Dr Amin brings a wealth of experience from both sides of the Atlantic and in a range of scientific, medical and surgical disciplines. Certified as a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine, he is also board eligible in gastroenterology and Obesity Medicine. He joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2024.

Dr. Amin’s research focuses on closing the gap between liver organ demand and supply by rehabilitating fatty donor livers that are otherwise too risky to be transplanted. He also works on improving organ storage conditions outside of the human body.
