    Naomi Winick, M.D., is a Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia and neurotoxicity related to cancer therapy.

    After earning her medical degree at Northwestern University, Dr. Winick completed a residency in pediatrics at Columbia University/Presbyterian Health Resources. She gained advanced training in pediatric hematology and oncology through a clinical fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and a research fellowship at the University of Texas Health Science Center, where she later earned a master’s degree in public health.

    Board certified in general pediatrics and pediatric hematology-oncology, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 1985.

    Dr. Winick is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, and the American Society of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. She is Chair of the Children’s Oncology Group's Institutional Performance Review Committee, and she serves on the National Cancer Institute's Pediatric Leukemia and Lymphoma Steering Committee and PDQ Pediatric Treatment Editorial Advisory Board.

    A prolific researcher, presenter, and author, Dr. Winick has published more than 200 articles in peer-reviewed journals, as well as numerous abstracts, case reports, and reviews. She has also contributed to books including Cancer in Children and Essentials of Pediatric Intensive Care. She is an ad hoc reviewer for a variety of academic journals, including Journal of Clinical OncologyBlood, and Lancet Oncology.

    In 2020, she received the President’s Award for Diversity and Humanism in Clinical Medicine at UT Southwestern.
