Paul Weatherall, M.D., FACR, is a Professor of Radiology at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a member of its Musculoskeletal Radiology Division. His clinical interests include the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) evaluation of joints, extremities, spine, and musculoskeletal tumors.

Dr. Weatherall earned his bachelor’s degree in biology at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. He earned his medical degree and completed his residency in radiology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. He received advanced training in MRI through a fellowship at UT Southwestern, and in musculoskeletal imaging through a fellowship at the University of California–San Diego.

His research interest in the MRI evaluation of joints, extremities, spine, and musculoskeletal tumors has resulted in more than 40 original research articles and editorials. Early in his career as a research assistant, he helped to install the nation's fifth MRI magnet for human imaging. His ongoing commitment to research is demonstrated by his membership on the Radiology Research Committee.

Dr. Weatherall is currently the supervising physician for the American College of Radiology Program for MRI systems at three UT Southwestern facilities.

He is a member of several national and international professional organizations, including the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine, the Radiological Society of North America, the American Medical Association, the Society of Skeletal Radiologists, the American Roentgen Ray Society, and the Dallas County Medical Society. He is also a member of the American College of Radiology, which inducted him as a Fellow in 2016, and the Texas Radiological Society, for which he served two terms on the Board of Governors and which he now serves as 2nd Vice President.

Dr. Weatherall serves as an editor for the Society of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Newsletter, ECHOES; and as a reviewer for the Journal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, for which he received a "Distinguished Service" citation.
