Biography

Abdallah Elnwasany, M.D., is an Assistant Instructor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a member of the Division of Cardiology.

Originally from Egypt, Dr. Elnwasany earned his medical degree from Alexandria University in Egypt. He completed his postdoctoral fellowship in the Division of Cardiology at UT Southwestern and joined the faculty in 2023.

Dr. Elnwasany's research is focused on cardiac metabolism, particularly in understanding the mechanisms by which insulin stimulates glucose utilization within the heart. Additionally, Dr. Elnwasany investigates the effects of dietary variations on both cardiac and mitochondrial metabolism and their impact on the development of insulin resistance and cardiovascular disease.
