  • Biography

    Trushil Shah, M.D., M.S., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a member of the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine.

    Originally from India, Dr. Shah completed his medical education at Smt. NHL Municipal Medical College in Ahmedabad, India. He completed internal medicine residency training at St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois. He completed advanced training through a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine at Rush University in Chicago. He later earned a master's degree in clinical science at Rush University and is currently pursuing a master's in business administration at the University of Texas at Dallas.

    Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, Dr. Shah joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2016.

    At UT Southwestern, Dr. Shah is the Associate Director of the Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension Program. He's also the Committee Chair of the Pulmonary Embolism Response Team (PERT) at Clements University Hospital.

    Dr. Shah is a member of several committees at UT Southwestern, including the Pulmonary Thromboendarterectomy Selection Committee, the Balloon Pulmonary Angioplasty Selection Committee, the Pulmonary Hypertension Research Committee, the Pulmonary Hypertension Case Review Committee, and many others.

    Dr. Shah is a member of the Indian Medical Association, the American College of Physicians, the American Medical Association, the American Thoracic Society, the American College of Chest Physicians, and the Pulmonary Hypertension Association.

    Dr. Shah's research interests include pulmonary hypertension, pulmonary arterial hypertension, and pulmonary hypertension with COPD. His research has resulted in multiple clinical trials, lectures, peer-reviewed publications, reviews, and other media.
