Biography
Shivani Desai, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center, and a member of its Division of General Internal Medicine. She specializes in preventive care and medical education.
Originally from Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Dr. Desai holds a bachelor's degree in liberal arts from the University of Texas at Austin. She earned her medical degree at Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine in Temple and completed internal medicine residency training at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine in Rochester, Minnesota.
Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2015.
Dr. Desai is Director of Primary Care Education for UT Southwestern’s Internal Medicine Residency Program, helping to oversee the resident clinical training sites and develop the program’s ambulatory medicine curriculum. She also supervises resident clinical training at Parkland’s Internal Medicine Clinic.
In 2021, she received the GIM Academic Development Award from the UTSW Division of General Internal Medicine.
She is an active member of the Society of General Internal Medicine.
