Biography

Shivani Desai, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center, and a member of the Division of General Internal Medicine. She specializes in preventive care and medical education.

Originally from Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Dr. Desai holds a bachelor's degree in liberal arts from the University of Texas at Austin. She earned her medical degree at Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine in Temple and completed internal medicine residency training at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine in Rochester, Minnesota.

Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, Dr, Desai joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2015.

Dr. Desai is the Director of Primary Care Education for UT Southwestern’s Internal Medicine Residency Program. She also supervises resident clinical training at Parkland’s Internal Medicine Clinic.

In 2021, Dr. Desai received the GIM Academic Development Award from the UTSW Division of General Internal Medicine.

Dr. Desai is an active member of the Society of General Internal Medicine.
