Biography Khashayar Sakhaee, M.D., is a Professor with tenure in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a faculty member in the Charles and Jane Pak Center for Mineral Metabolism and Clinical Research. He holds the Laura Kim Pak Professorship in Mineral Metabolism Research. Originally from Tehran, Iran, Dr. Sakhaee earned his bachelor's degree and medical degree and completed internal medicine residency training at Pahlavi University in Shiraz, Iran. He finished his internal medicine residency as a Senior Resident at University Hospitals of Cleveland, Ohio. He then completed advanced training through a fellowship in Nephrology at UT Health Science Center in Dallas. Dr. Sakhaee is the Director of the Mineral Metabolism Clinic at Parkland Memorial Hospital and a member of the Ambulatory High-Performance Team for the Parkland Health & Hospital System. Dr. Sakhee's clinical interests include metabolic bone diseases such as osteoporosis and osteomalacia, magnesium disorders like hypomagnesia, phosphate disorders like hyperphosphatemia, and calcium disorders like hypercalcemia and hypocalcemia. His research interests include uric acid stones, post-renal transplantation hypophosphatemia, and osteoporosis. An editorial board member of the journal Urolithiasis, Dr. Sakhaee has published countless academic articles and delivered a number of international, national, and regional invited lectures. Dr. Sakhaee is a member of the National Kidney Foundation, the American Urological Association, and the Dallas County Medical Society, among many other professional organizations.
