  • Biography

    Nicholas Hendren, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center, and a member of the Division of Cardiology. He specializes in myocarditis, advanced heart failure, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, and heart transplant.

    Originally from West Allis, Wisconsin, Dr. Hendren holds a bachelor's degree in medical microbiology, immunology, and zoology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he also earned his medical degree. He completed a residency in internal medicine, a fellowship in cardiovascular disease, and a fellowship in advanced heart failure and transplant, at UT Southwestern, where he also served as Chief Fellow. 

    Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in cardiovascular disease, Dr. Hendren joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2022.

    Dr. Hendren is a member of the Heart Failure Society of America, the American College of Cardiology, and the American Heart Association.

    Dr. Hendren has delivered several presentations, contributed to the book Cardiovascular Medicine and Surgery, and published numerous academic articles related to his areas of expertise. He also serves as a reviewer for the journal Circulation.

    Personal Note

    Outside of medicine, Dr. Hendren enjoys exploring national parks, watching baseball, and being a parent.
