  • Biography

    Timothy Brown, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a member of its Division of Hematology and Oncology. He specializes in the treatment of gastrointestinal cancers.

    Originally from Florida, Dr. Brown holds a bachelor's degree in human nutrition, foods, and exercise from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) in Blacksburg, Virginia. He earned his medical degree at the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine in Hershey, Pennsylvania, and completed internal medicine residency training at UT Southwestern, where he served as Chief Resident. He gained advanced training in hematology and oncology through a fellowship at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where he served as Chief Fellow and also earned a master’s degree in clinical epidemiology.

    Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, Dr. Brown joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2023.

    A prolific author and researcher, Dr. Brown has an interest in early phase clinical trial design and outcomes research for gastrointestinal malignancies. He has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and serves as an ad hoc reviewer for several journals, including Annals of Internal Medicine, Journal of Clinical Oncology, and Trends in Cancer.

    He is an active member of the American Association for Cancer Research and the American College of Physicians.

    In 2023, Dr. Brown earned the Conquer Cancer Merit Award at the American Society of Clinical Oncology Gastrointestinal Cancers Symposium.

    Personal Note

    When he’s not at work, Dr. Brown enjoys lifting weights and spending time with his family.
