Kwabena Blankson, M.D.

Kwabena Blankson, M.D., is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at UT Southwestern Medical Center, where he is the Medical Director of Adolescent Medicine.

Dr. Blankson has held academic appointments at several institutions, including Texas A&M College of Medicine, College Station, Texas; Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, Bethesda, Maryland; Brooke Army Medical Center at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas; and Naval Medical Center, Portsmouth, Virginia.

He joined the faculty at UT Southwestern in 2026.

Dr. Blankson received his bachelor’s degree in cognitive neuroscience from Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He earned his medical degree from Yale School of Medicine in New Haven, Connecticut and completed his pediatrics residency and adolescent medicine fellowship training at major military medical centers.

His research and interests focus on military healthcare utilization among teens, energy drink consumption, anticipatory guidance for young athletes, problematic screen time usage, and positive psychology in chronic illness management. Dr. Blankson has spoken at national and international conferences, including the United Nations and the World Health Organization. He has published articles in medical journals and national media outlets, where he was recognized for his expertise in adolescent medicine.

Dr. Blankson specializes in adolescent mental health, attention‑deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), disordered eating and weight management, acne, and reproductive and sexual health. He is active as a wellness consultant, professional coach, and educator. Dr. Blankson has created courses and written resources on adolescent health, asthma, digital wellness, and positive parenting. He is a published author of books for young readers and a contributor to parenting and wellness media.
