Biography

Joseph McLaughlin, M.D., Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Radiology at UT Southwestern Medical Center, and a member of its Vascular & Interventional Radiology Division

Dr. McLaughlin holds a bachelor's degree and a doctoral degree in biochemistry from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. He earned his medical degree at the University of Pittsburgh, and obtained radiology residency training at UT Southwestern, where he remained to complete advanced training through a fellowship program in vascular and interventional radiology.

Prior to joining the UT Southwestern faculty in 2019, Dr. McLaughlin was a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Pharmacology at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, and served as a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacology at the University of Illinois in Chicago.

Dr. McLaughlin's research interests include developing an image-based method to assess the dynamics of intravascular thrombosis to monitor disease status and progression in stent thrombosis, atherosclerosis, tissue regeneration, and organ transplant.

Personal Note

During his free time, Dr. McLaughlin enjoys composing, performing, and producing rock music; attending symphony concerts and museum exhibitions; cooking gourmet foods and designing fine dining experiences; building vintage electronic signal processors; and working on home-improvement projects.
