Yue Zhang, Ph.D. Titles and Appointments Associate Professor School Medical School Department Radiology Biography Yue Zhang, Ph.D., is Assistant Professor of Radiology at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a member of its Medical Physics Division. He provides clinical diagnostic medical physics services to Children’s Medical Center, Parkland Health and Hospital System, and Clements University Hospital and Clinics. I am honored to be part of the Department of Radiology, which provides me an excellent opportunity to educate the next generation of radiologists and medical physicists. Originally from China, Dr. Zhang obtained a bachelor’s degree in applied physics from Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics in Nanjing. He earned a master’s degree and a doctoral degree in bioengineering from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He then received advanced training in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) as a postdoctoral researcher at UT Southwestern. Prior to joining the faculty in 2018, he completed a diagnostic medical physics residency at the University of Chicago Medical Center. Dr. Zhang’s clinical services include evaluating the performance of imaging equipment for regulatory and quality assurance purposes, designing and inspecting shielding in X-ray imaging rooms, providing physics oversight for American College of Radiology accreditation program for computed tomography (CT), and performing patient-specific radiation dose and risk estimates. Dr. Zhang’s research interest focuses on quantitative imaging techniques in MRI and their applications in oncology. He has authored and co-authored various research paper in peer-reviewed publications. He has also presented his work in national or international conferences. Dr. Zhang also provides lectures, conferences, and exam reviews in radiological physics to resident physicians. Dr. Zhang currently serves as a member of CT Operations Committee for Clements University Hospital. He is also a member of CT Quality Improvement at Children’s Health. Dr. Zhang is also an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM), American College of Radiology, and International Society of Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM). Since 2013, Dr. Zhang has served as a reviewer of abstracts for the annual meetings of the AAPM and the ISMRM. He also serves as a reviewer for the Journal of Vascular and Interventional Radiology, American Journal of Roentgenology, Journal of Magnetic Resonance in Imaging, Radiology, European Radiology, PLOS ONE, Magnetic Resonance in Medicine, Clinical Cancer Research, Cancer Research, and Magnetic Resonance Materials in Physics, Biology and Medicine. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Radiology, with certification in Diagnostic Medical Physics.
