Biography

Amy Shah, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern and a member of its Division of Endocrinology. Her clinical interests include type 1 diabetes, post-transplant diabetes, and diabetes in pregnancy.

Originally from Arkansas, she holds a bachelor's degree in biology and economics from Boston University, where she graduated cum laude. She received her medical degree with honors from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock and completed internal medicine residency training at UT Southwestern, where she also received advanced training through a fellowship program in endocrinology, diabetes and mineral metabolism.

Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism, Dr. Shah joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2019.

Dr. Shah is an active member of the American Diabetes Association, which she serves as a member of the Early Career Advisory Group, and the Endocrine Society, which she serves as a member of the Hormone Health Network Committee.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Shah's interests include running, hiking, biking and cooking with her husband. She also enjoys traveling and spending time with family and friends.
