  • Biography

Evan Nair-Gill, M.D., Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a member of its Division of Rheumatic Diseases. He holds a secondary appointment in the Department of Immunology.

Originally from Madison, Wisconsin, Dr. Nair-Gill holds a bachelor's degree in biological chemistry from the University of Chicago. He earned his doctoral and medical degrees from the University of California, Los Angeles. He completed his doctoral thesis in the Owen Witte Lab, where he studied immune cell metabolism to develop imaging probes for non-invasive measurements of immune function. He then obtained internal medicine residency training and rheumatology fellowship training at UT Southwestern. During his fellowship, he worked in the Beutler Lab, where he investigated the cellular mechanisms that control lymphocyte quiescence.

Dual board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine and rheumatology, Dr. Nair-Gill joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2019.

The Nair-Gill Lab was established within the Center for the Genetics of Host Defense in 2021 with support from the Rheumatology Research Foundation, the National Institute for Allergy and Infectious Diseases, and the UT Southwestern Disease Oriented Clinical Scholar Award.
