  • Biography

    Arjmand Mufti, M.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a member of the Division of Digestive and Liver Diseases. He specializes in transplant hepatology.

    Originally from Srinagar, India, Dr. Mufti earned his bachelor's degree in immunology and his medical degree with honors at United Medical and Dental Schools of Guy’s and St. Thomas’ Hospitals in London. He then trained in internal medicine at Kings College Hospital in London. After completing a research fellowship at the University of Michigan, he performed a residency in internal medicine at the University of Chicago, where he also received advanced training through fellowships in gastroenterology and transplant hepatology.

    Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in gastroenterology and hepatology, Dr. Mufti joined UT Southwestern in 2013.

    Dr. Mufti’s primary area of research is acute chronic liver failure. His investigations have led to more than a dozen publications in peer-reviewed journals. 

    Dr. Mufti is a section editor for Current Hepatology Reports; an ad hoc reviewer for the Journal of Hepatology, The American Journal of Gastroenterology, and Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology; and on the editorial board of Clinical and Translational Gastroenterology.

    Dr. Mufti is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Society of Transplantation, the European Association for the Study of the Liver, the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases, and the American Gastroenterological Association.
