  • Biography

    Stephen Mark Megison, M.D., is a Professor and the System Level Trauma Medical Director in the Department of Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center. A pediatric surgery specialist, he also serves as Medical Director of the Trauma Service and Director of Robotic Surgery at Children's Medical Center Dallas.

    Dr. Megison earned his medical degree at Louisiana State University School of Medicine. After completing his residency in surgery at UT Southwestern, he received advanced training in pediatric surgery through a fellowship at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine and The Children’s Hospital of Oklahoma.

    Certified by the American Board of Surgery, he joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 1993.

    Dr. Megison’s clinical interests include pediatric surgical oncology, thoracic congenital malformation, and resident education. He is the author of numerous scholarly articles and book chapters, and he regularly delivers presentations and lectures.

    He is a member of the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma, the American Pediatric Surgical Association, the ATOMAC Pediatric Trauma Network, the Parkland Surgical Society, and the Pediatric Trauma Society.
