Biography

Juan Sosa, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry. Dr. Sosa received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Texas at Dallas in 2011, followed by a Doctor of Medicine degree in 2017 at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. Dr. Sosa completed the General Adult Psychiatry Residency Program at UT Southwestern in 2021, followed by completion of the Forensic Psychiatry Fellowship Program at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, Colorado, in 2022. Dr. Sosa returned to Dallas and completed the Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship Program at UT Southwestern in 2023. Dr. Sosa’s professional interests include treatment of patients with complex, dual diagnoses, justice-involved populations, and community psychiatry. In addition, Dr. Sosa enjoys being an educator and mentor for medical students, residents, and fellows. Dr. Sosa is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) in both Adult Psychiatry and Forensic Psychiatry. He is board eligible for Addiction Psychiatry. Dr. Sosa currently practices at the North Texas VA Healthcare System (Dallas VA) in the Mental Health – Substance Use Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program (RRTP).
