Syed, MD, FAAFP, currently serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center (UTSW), Dallas, Texas. With over 20 years of experience in Family Medicine, Dr. Syed has held several key leadership roles, including as the Family Medicine Residency Program Director for 9 years ( 7/2014-6/2023) , Medical Director of the Integrated Pain & Healing Clinic at Parkland Health and at the Medical Executive Committee for the Family Medicine Department for UTSW. Dr. Syed completed his M.B.B.S. at Al-Ameen Medical College in India, followed by a Family Medicine residency at the Mid-Hudson Family Practice Residency Program in New York. A recognized leader in his field, he has earned several prestigious awards, including the Program Director Recognition Award and the Aesculapius Award for Teaching Excellence. Dr. Syed is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians (FAAFP) and serves on multiple committees, including the Graduate Medical Education Committee at UT Southwestern. As a principal investigator, he has secured significant grant funding for rural residency programs and is actively involved in research, with publications focusing on medical education, faculty promotion, and healthcare disparities.
