  • Biography

    Zehra Tekin, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in endocrinology, with a focus on diabetes.

    Dr. Tekin earned her medical degree at Hacettepe University School of Medicine in Turkey. Upon graduation, she completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Islet Laboratory at the University of Chicago. She completed a residency in internal medicine at the Queens Hospital Center in New York and gained advanced training through a fellowship in endocrinology, diabetes, metabolism, and nutrition at the Cleveland Clinic.

    Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Obesity Medicine, Dr. Tekin joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2024.

    Dr. Tekin is a member of the American Diabetes Association and the Endocrine Society.

    She has delivered oral and poster presentations, contributed to several books, including Diabetes in Older Adults, and published academic articles related to her areas of expertise.

    Personal Note

    When she’s not at work, Dr. Tekin enjoys hiking, traveling, and spending time with her family.
