Phillip Jones, Ph.D. Professor Emeritus School School of Health Professions Department Physician Assistant Studies Biography Dr. Jones completed his physician assistant education in 1975 while on active duty with the US Navy. His previous educational accomplishments include a Bachelor of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Nebraska, a Master’s degree in Health Services Management, a Master’s degree in Education, and a Doctorate in Education with a major in evaluation and quantitative analysis. Dr. Jones joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 1993, serving as the department’s Chair since his arrival. He also serves as Chief of the Division of Post-Graduate Physician Assistant Education. His commitment to the advancement of the profession is evidenced by his ongoing contributions to the professional literature, his service as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Physician Assistant Education, and his designation as a Piper Professor, Distinguished Teaching Professor and an elected member of the Southwestern Academy of Teachers and The University of Texas Academy of Health Science Education.
