  • Biography

    Anita Hegde, M.D., is an Associate Professor in theĀ Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a member of its Division of Hospital Medicine.

    Originally from Kansas City, Missouri, Dr. Hegde earned her medical degree at the University of Kansas School of Medicine and completed internal medicine residency training at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. She holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and computer science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

    Both roles align with my clinical and academic pursuits to improve the quality of health care for the underserved.

    Dr. Hegde serves as the Director of Patient Safety and Quality in the Division of Hospital Medicine at Parkland Health and Hospital System, and Associate Chief Quality and Safety Officer.

    Dr. Hegde's clinical and academic interests include serving underserved populations, improving health care disparities such as access to care and transitions in care, and quality improvement.

    Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, Dr. Hegde joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2012.

    In 2021, Dr. Hegde was named Physician of the Year by Parkland Health & Hospital System.
