Sheba Jaison Joy, M.S. Titles and Appointments Assistant Professor School School of Health Professions Department Physician Assistant Studies Biography Sheba Jaison Joy, MPAS, PA-C, a dedicated healthcare professional and passionate educator, has built a remarkable career rooted in her upbringing in Dallas, Texas. Her academic journey began at Texas A&M University where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology in 2011, laying a strong foundation for her future in medicine. Driven by a desire to directly impact patient care, Sheba pursued her Master's in Physician Assistant Studies at South University Savannah, completing her degree in 2015. Fresh out of her master's program, she returned to Dallas and embarked on a significant medical career at the UT Southwestern Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center. Her commitment to oncology was evident in her roles: first, serving on the inpatient solid tumor service from 2015 to 2021, providing crucial care to patients navigating complex cancer diagnoses, treatment complications, and end of life care. Following this, from 2021 to 2025, she transitioned to the outpatient acute care clinic, continuing to offer vital support and medical expertise to cancer patients in a different setting to help reduce ER visits and hospital admissions. Currently, Sheba has channeled her extensive clinical experience and dedication to education into a full-time faculty position with the UTSW PA Studies program. In this role, she shapes the next generation of physician assistants, sharing her knowledge and fostering their growth in the medical field. Beyond her professional achievements, Sheba is a loving mother to two daughters and the wife of a commercial pilot, balancing the demands of a fulfilling career with a vibrant family life. In her spare time, she enjoys enriching her mind through reading, unwinding with music, exploring diverse culinary experiences by trying new foods, and satisfying her wanderlust through travel.
