Biography

Tanya Carens Watt, M.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in pediatric oncology.

Dr. Watt earned her medical degree at the UT Health Science Center at San Antonio. She completed both her a residency in pediatrics and fellowship in pediatric hematology and oncology at Emory University. She also holds a Master of Science in clinical research.

Certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in pediatric hematology-oncology, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2011.

Dr. Watt serves as the Fellowship Program Director for the Division of Hematology and Oncology in the Department of Pediatrics. She is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Society of Pediatric Hematology Oncology, the Children’s Oncology Group, and the American Society of Hematology.

Dr. Watt’s clinical and research interests include pediatric cancer, especially neuroblastoma, about which she has written several articles and case reports and made presentations,. She is also invested in improving education for pediatric hematology-oncology fellows and has published on ways to train physicians better.
