Tara Duval, M.D.

Tara DuVal, M. D. , is an Assisant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center, and a member of its Division of Geriatric Medicine. She specializes in adult preventive medicine, seeing patients both in clinic and as part of the House Calls Program.

A native of New York, Dr. DuVal received her undergraduate degree in neurobiology and behavior at Cornell University. She earned her medical degree at the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin, Ireland. She completed her residency in internal medicine at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts, served as a hospitalist for two years, then finished her advanced training with a clinical fellowship in geriatrics at UT Southwestern.

Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in geriatrics and general internal medicine, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2012.

At UT Southwestern, Dr. DuVal instructs medical and graduate students in small groups and clinic rotations. She also trains fellows in elder abuse, functional assessment, and other topics. She is also a member of the Clinical Competency Committee.

She is active in the American Geriatrics Society, where she serves as a member of the Resident Education Sub-Committee.

Personal Note

Dr. DuVal’s interests outside of medicine include spending time with her family and pets, traveling, and cooking.
