Biography Markus Goldschmiedt, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a member of the Division of Digestive and Liver Diseases. Dr. Goldschmiedt earned his medical degree at the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos in Lima, Peru. He then completed a residency in internal medicine at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, followed by a fellowship in gastroenterology at UT Southwestern and a fellowship in therapeutic endoscopy at the Wellesley Hospital in Toronto. Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in gastroenterology, Dr. Goldschmiedt initially joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 1991 and served as the Director of Parkland Memorial Hospital’s GI lab until 1996. He rejoined the UTSW faculty in 2019. Dr. Goldschmiedt’s clinical focus is treating pancreatobiliary diseases, achalasia, and gastroparesis, as well as the removal of gastrointestinal neoplasias with endoscopic submucosal dissection. He is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterological Association, the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the Dallas County Medical Society, and the Texas Medical Association. Personal Note Outside of medicine, Dr. Goldschmiedt enjoys time with his wife, children, and grandchildren, and loves soccer and outdoor activities.
