Biography
Dr. Jacobs received his medical degree from Yale School of Medicine in New Haven, CT, after growing up in Houston. He completed his urologic residency at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington, MA and fellowship training in pediatric urology at Seattle Children’s Hospital in Seattle, WA. He also earned a Masters Degree in Public Health while at the University of Washington.
Dr. Jacobs joined the Urology faculty in Dallas in 2011 and is an Associate Professor at UT Southwestern. He is also the Director of the Pediatric Urology Fellowship Program at Children’s Medical Center and UT Southwestern. He sees patients in Dallas at Children’s Medical Center as well as in the Plano facility and Rockwall. His interests include congenital urologic abnormalities, spina bifida, minimally invasive surgery, complex urologic reconstruction and hypospadias. Dr. Jacobs conducts a clinic for children with spina bifida at the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital. He co-directs the Adolescent to Adult transition program in Urology, focusing on special needs children as they move into adulthood. He has written multiple research papers on the long-term outcomes of children with neurogenic bladder dysfunction who have undergone surgical reconstruction, as well as clinical outcomes of various surgical techniques in Pediatric Urology.
Dr. Jacobs teaches for the American Board of Urology review course and is active in the American Urological Association’s academic activities.
Dr. Jacobs also spends as much time as possible with his two children and wife here in Dallas. He is a member of the board of trustees at his synagogue. He is also a lifelong fan of the Houston Astros.
