    Valerie-Sue Emuakhagbon, M.D., serves as the site director of the general surgery residency program at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Dallas. Apart from educating young surgeons, she has shared her expertise with peers through a book chapter on colon operations and with journal articles about the complications after liver transplant surgery and the trends in screening and surveillance for colorectal cancer.

    Dr. Emuakhagbon has been an assistant professor at UT Southwestern since 2018. She received her medical degree from the University of Missouri—Kansas City and performed a general surgery residency at the University of Louisville. She then received advanced training in colon and rectal surgery through a fellowship at the University of South Florida.
