  • Biography

Reid Weisberg, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a member of its Division of Rheumatic Diseases. He specializes in the treatment of spondyloarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and vasculitis.

Dr. Weisberg holds a bachelor's degree in biology with a minor in history from the University of Virginia, which he received with distinction. He earned his medical degree from the Baylor College of Medicine and completed internal medicine residency training at UT Southwestern. He then received advanced training through a rheumatology fellowship at Columbia University Irving Medical Center.

He joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2025.

Dr. Weisberg’s research interests center on understanding and improving care for patients with complex rheumatologic and inflammatory conditions. His work spans clinical studies, case reports, and quality‑improvement projects. He has studied diseases such as giant cell arteritis, Cushing’s disease, and late‑onset diffuse xanthomas, as well as broader inflammatory pathways, including how certain genes regulate inflammation and protect against conditions like colitis. Through quality‑improvement initiatives, he has examined how to better communicate medication risks, particularly with JAK inhibitors, to support safer rheumatology care. His ongoing projects also include using natural language processing to detect toxicities from antimalarial medications and contributing to research on hypersensitivity pneumonitis, rheumatoid arthritis, and the relationship between rheumatoid arthritis and heart failure. Overall, his work reflects a focus on improving diagnostic accuracy, medication safety, and clinical outcomes for patients with autoimmune and inflammatory diseases.

Dr. Weisberg is an active member of the American College of Rheumatology.
