Biography
Iram Hussain, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in thyroid nodules, thyroid cancer, fine-needle aspiration biopsies, ethanol ablation, and radiofrequency ablation of thyroid lesions. She also sees patients with pituitary disorders, including pituitary adenomas, acromegaly, Cushing's disease, and prolactinomas.
Dr. Hussain earned her medical degree at King Edward Medical University in Pakistan. She completed a residency in internal medicine in Austin, Texas, and received advanced training in endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism through a fellowship at UT Southwestern.
She joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2015.
Dr. Hussain is dual board certified in internal medicine and endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism. Complementing her clinical interest in thyroid disease, she has an additional Endocrine Certification in Neck Ultrasound (ECNU), enabling her to provide same-day ultrasound imaging and biopsies/ablations at office visits when needed. She is also a Certified Clinical Densitometrist (CCD) and treats parathyroid disorders and related bone disorders.
She has delivered several invited lectures and written numerous academic articles. She is a member of several professional societies and is the Vice President of the North American Society for Interventional Thyroidologists. At UT Southwestern she is involved in trainee education and is on the Clinical Core Competency Commitee for the endocrinology fellowship program.
