He holds the Robin M. Jacoby, Ph.D. Professorship in Biomedical Science. Dr. Park is Chief of the Division of Genomic and Molecular Pathology and Co-Director of the Biomarker Research Laboratory. He also directs the Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory at UT Southwestern and the Advanced Diagnostics Laboratory at Children’s Health.

Dr. Park’s clinical and academic interests include genomics, laboratory medicine, clinical informatics, biomarker development, and pediatric gastrointestinal pathology. His work has focused on developing and bringing new diagnostic technologies into clinical practice, particularly in cancer genomics, inherited diseases and pharmacogenomics. He is board certified in anatomic pathology, clinical pathology, clinical informatics, and molecular diagnostics.

Dr. Park has authored or co-authored more than 300 journal articles, book chapters, and published abstracts. His research has resulted in 14 issued U.S. patents in cancer diagnostics, cancer therapeutics, and nanotechnology. In 2023, he won UT Southwestern’s Innovation Days Medical Devices/Diagnostics competition for the development of a cancer immunotherapy toxicity predictor.

Dr. Park is Editor-in-Chief of Clinical Chemistry, an international journal in laboratory medicine with a 2025 Journal Impact Factor of 8.3. His work and expertise have been cited in national media including The New York Times, Reuters, and The Dallas Morning News.

Dr. Park completed college and medical school through the accelerated BS/MD program at Pennsylvania State University and Jefferson Medical College. He then trained in a combined MD/PhD program at Thomas Jefferson University as a Gibbon Scholar. His residency was in anatomic and clinical pathology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where he served as Chief Resident, followed by fellowship training in gastrointestinal and liver pathology at The Johns Hopkins Hospital.
