  • Biography

    Melissa Mauskar, M.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Dermatology and the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. Her clinical practice is focused on women’s health dermatology: addressing changes in skin and vulvar health that occur throughout different life stages, such as puberty, pregnancy, perimenopause, and post menopause. She cares for patients with everything from acute rashes to acne, however she is an expert in treating patients with vulvar dermatoses.

     

     

    She is the Founder and Director of the Vulvar Health Program at UT Southwestern, a tertiary referral center for gynecologists, dermatologists, and primary care physicians serving Texas and the nation.  

     

     

    Dr. Mauskar earned her medical degree at the University ofTexas Health Science Center at San Antonio. She completed her residency in dermatology at Georgetown University Hospital and MedStar Washington Hospital Center and is certified by the American Board of Dermatology.  Dr Mauskar is a Fellow of the International Society of the Study of Vulvovaginal Diseases.

     

     

    Dr. Mauskar lectures locally, nationally, and internationally on vulvar skin conditions. She is a past president of the Dallas Dermatological Society, serves on the board of directors of the Women’s Dermatologic Society, and is secretary general of the North American ISSVD. She is the founding president of the Vulvar Dermatoses Research Consortium, and expansive group of healthcare practitioners and trainees in North America dedicated to advancing the field of vulvar dermatology. 

     

     

    As an advocate for women’s health and educational initiatives, Dr Mauskar aims to improve the quality of life for women and their interpersonal relationships to empower patients to speak more freely about their conditions.
