Ran Song, Ph.D. Titles and Appointments Instructor Schools Medical School Departments Internal Medicine Biography Ran Song, Ph.D., is an Instructor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a member of its Division of Digestive and Liver Diseases. Dr. Song holds B.S. in Bioscience and Food Technology from Handong Global University. She earned her M.S. and Ph.D. in Immunology from Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH) in South Korea. She joined UT Southwestern in 2011 as a postdoctoral research fellow in the Department of Immunology and subsequently held positions as Assistant Instructor, Research Scientist, and Senior Research Scientist before becoming an Instructor in the Department of Internal Medicine in 2025. Dr. Song's research focuses on identifying and characterizing genes and molecular pathways that regulate intestinal homeostasis and susceptibility to inflammatory bowel disease. Her current work investigates how these genes regulate innate immune responses, mucosal immunity, and host defense, with the goal of better understanding the mechanisms underlying intestinal inflammation and disease.
