Biography Amy Jones, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a member of the Division of Hematology and Oncology. She specializes in gastrointestinal (GI) malignancies; sarcoma, melanoma, and rare tumor types; and cancer care for the underserved. Originally from Austin, Dr. Jones holds a bachelor's degree in biology from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. She earned her medical degree at UT Southwestern and then returned to Duke to complete internal medicine residency training. She received advanced training in hematology and medical oncology through a fellowship at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, where she served as Chief Fellow for quality improvement and education. Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in hematology and medical oncology, Dr. Jones joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2019. Dr. Jones is the Medical Director of the Inpatient Hematology-Oncology Unit for the Parkland Health & Hospital System and Program Director of the Hematology-Oncology Fellowship Program at UT Southwestern. She serves on the Cancer in People with HIV/Kaposi Sarcoma Panel of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network. Additionally, she is a founding Co-Chair of the Parkland Cancer Improvement Committee, a member of the Parkland Cancer Committee, and a recipient of the Niarchos Grant for Quality Improvement through the American Society of Clinical Oncology. Dr. Jones has delivered a number of invited lectures and published numerous academic articles, and she serves as a course director for medical education at the fellowship and medical student levels. Texas Monthly named Dr. Jones a Rising Star among their Top Doctors in 2022. Personal Note Outside of medicine, Dr. Jones stays busy keeping up with two daughters and a husband looking for the next adventure.
