Biography Download Curriculum Vitae May Lau, M.D., M.P.H., is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at UT Southwestern and serves as the Medical Director of the Adolescent and Young Adult clinic at Children’s Medical Center Dallas. A board-certified adolescent medicine specialist, Dr. Lau joined the faculty at UT Southwestern in 2008. She specializes in adolescent female and male sexual and reproductive health along with treating youth with gender dysphoria. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a Fellow of the Society of Adolescent Health and Medicine. She has been elected to the American Academy of Pediatrics Section on Adolescent Medicine Executive Committee and co-chairs the American Academy of Pediatrics Texas Pediatric Society Committee on Adolescent and Sports Medicine, Dr. Lau served as President of the Texas Chapter of the Society of Adolescent Health and Medicine, and a consultant to the Texas Medical Association Committee on Child and Adolescent Health. Dr. Lau’s goal is to improve the sexual and reproductive health of adolescents, through clinical work, education, and research. She has spoken on numerous adolescent medicine topics including care of youth with gender dysphoria, sexually transmitted infections, contraception, and mental health at national and regional meetings. Her research on racial and ethnic disparities in adolescent health, adolescent pregnancy, and youth with gender dysphoria has been presented at national meetings and appeared in many peer-reviewed journals including Pediatrics, LGBT Health, Journal of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics, Journal of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology, and Maternal and Child Health Journal.
