Biography

Angela Orlino Gutierrez, M.D., is an Associate Professor in theĀ Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a member of its Division of General Internal Medicine. Her clinical interests include cardiometabolic risk mitigation, culinary medicine, and clinical documentation improvement (CDI). Her academic interest is in mentoring Internal Medicine trainees through their personal and professional development. She previously served as an Academic Colleges mentor (2015-2022).

Originally from Ohio, Dr. Gutierrez holds a bachelor's degree in biochemistry from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, where she graduated summa cum laude and was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Society. She earned her medical degreeĀ from The Ohio State University College of Medicine and Public Health in Columbus, where she graduated summa cum laude and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Society. After completing internal medicin/pediatrics residency training at The Ohio State University Hospitals and Columbus Children's Hospital, she was certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) and the American Board of Pediatrics. She remains a diplomate of the ABIM.

Dr. Gutierrez joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2006, and after nearly 16 years serving as a clinician-educator at Parkland Health & Hospital System, transitioned to the North Texas VA Medical Center in 2022.

Dr. Gutierrez is an active member of the American College of Physicians, Texas Medical Association, Dallas County Medical Society, Alpha Omega Alpha, and Phi Beta Kappa.

Personal Note

Outside of medicine, Dr. Gutierrez enjoys gardening, creative non-fiction writing, and musicology.
