  • Biography

    Jeannie Kwon, M.D., M.B.A., M.S., is a Professor of Radiology at UT Southwestern and the Division Chief of Pediatric Radiology. She also is the Chief Radiology Officer at Children’s Health.

    Dr. Kwon holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She earned her medical degree from University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (Rutgers RWJMS) and continued at RWJMS to complete her internship and residency training in diagnostic radiology. She then received advanced training in pediatric radiology through a fellowship program at UT Southwestern and Children’s Medical Center Dallas.

    Since joining the faculty in 2007, Dr. Kwon has taken on several significant leadership positions, such as Associate Program Director of the Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program and Director of Operations for the Division of General Pediatric Radiology at Children’s Health. Her contributions have garnered national recognition, including her participation in the Pediatric AI Working Group of the American College of Radiology and her role as Chair of the Society for Pediatric Radiology Informatics Committee.

    Dr. Kwon is board certified in Diagnostic Radiology and has a Certificate of Additional Qualification in Pediatric Radiology, along with additional certification in Clinical Informatics, which she obtained in 2017. Her promotion to Professor in 2023 reflects her ongoing dedication to academic medicine. Recently, she completed a dual Master of Business Administration and Master of Science degree in Healthcare Leadership and Management from the University of Texas at Dallas.

    In her clinical and research pursuits, Dr. Kwon has concentrated on advancing ultrasound techniques in pediatric imaging. Her work on contrast-enhanced ultrasound and quantitative ultrasound methods for evaluating chronic liver disease and fatty liver disease in pediatric patients has contributed to ongoing efforts in the field to minimize reliance on imaging modalities that require radiation or sedation.

    Dr. Kwon serves on numerous committees within and outside of UT Southwestern. She is a member of the Radiological Society of North America and the Society for Pediatric Radiology, formerly serving as chair of the Informatics Committee. She is also an active member of the Texas Radiological Society and American College of Radiology.

    Dr. Kwon also serves as a reviewer for the journals Pediatric Radiology and Current Problems in Diagnostic Radiology.

    Personal Note

    Dr. Kwon’s passion is to help individuals discover and develop their own skills, interests and passions, guided by the belief that personal growth happens best in the context of teams and community. As the mother of three grown children, Dr. Kwon now enjoys traveling and discovering great new restaurants with her husband and friends. You may find her walking/running on the Dallas Katy Trail, as she contemplates principles for wellbeing and greater organizational effectiveness.
