Biography Rosechelle Ruggiero, M.D., M.S.C.S., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern, and a member of its Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. She specializes in pulmonary hypertension. Originally from Gouldsboro, Pa., Dr. Ruggiero holds a bachelor’s degree in biology summa cum laude from Loyola College. She received her medical degree cum laude from Georgetown University School of Medicine. She completed internal medicine residency training at UT Southwestern, where she also completed advanced training through a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care, serving a year as Chief Fellow. She then earned a master’s degree in clinical science in pulmonary hypertension at UT Southwestern. Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine, pulmonary medicine, and critical care medicine, she joined the UT Southwestern Faculty in 2011. Dr. Ruggiero’s research interests include pulmonary hypertension and ICU outcomes in county hospitals. Her investigations have resulted in several publications in peer-reviewed journals and a chapter on pain, sedation, and delirium in the Bedside Critical Care Manual. She is also a frequent speaker at regional lectures, grand rounds, and other forums. At UT Southwestern, Dr. Ruggiero is involved in training residents and fellows in the intensive care unit and in general pulmonary medicine. She has twice earned the Outstanding Teacher Award for Internal Medicine. Dr. Ruggiero is active in several professional societies, including the American College of Chest Physicians, the American Thoracic Society, and the Dallas County Medical Society. Her interests outside of medicine include running and biking, cooking, reading, and frequent travel.
