Jacobe is a Professor of Dermatology at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a Professor in the Peter O’Donnell Jr. School of Public Health. She serves as Associate Dean of Clinical Research Development and as Director of the Master of Science in Clinical Investigation, where she leads institutional programs to advance the development of clinician‑scientists and the clinical research workforce. Dr. Jacobe’s research focuses on sclerosing skin diseases, including morphea and systemic sclerosis, with an emphasis on disease outcomes, biomarkers, and clinical trials. She has led and collaborated on investigator‑initiated, NIH, philanthropy, industry, and Department of Defense‑funded studies aimed at improving disease measurement, understanding disease heterogeneity, and advancing evidence‑based care for patients with complex inflammatory and fibrosing skin disorders. Congruent with her research, Dr. Jacobe is a clinical expert in the diagnosis and care of patients with sclerosing skin disorders and see patients referred from specialists from around the world. Dr Jacobe's contributions to the field have been acknowledged by the receipt of two endowments including the Jame N. Gilliam Chair in Rheumatology-Dermatology and the DJ Moody Family Fund for Scleroderma Research. In addition to her research program, Dr. Jacobe holds leadership roles within UT Southwestern’s NIH Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) program, where she serves as Director of the Clinical and Translational Science Workforce Development Core and as Co‑Director and MPI of the NIH KL2 Clinical Scholars Program. Through these roles, she has developed and implemented institutional training programs that support early‑career investigators across disciplines. Dr. Jacobe is a Distinguished Teaching Professor and a member of the UT Southwestern Promotion and Tenure Committee. She is also a trained facilitator in the Center for the Improvement of Mentored Experiences in Research (CIMER) Entering Mentoring curriculum and certified executive coach, reflecting her commitment to mentorship, leadership development, and academic career advancement. She received her medical degree with honors from Baylor College of Medicine, completed her dermatology residency at UT Southwestern—serving as Chief Resident—and earned a Master of Science in Clinical Science with distinction through the UT Southwestern Clinical Scholars Program.
