Biography Jeffrey Pruitt, M.D., is a Professor of Radiology at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a member of its Abdominal Imaging Division. He serves as Medical Director of Genitourinary Imaging and Parkland Health & Hospital System, and holds a secondary appointment as a Professor of Urology. Dr. Pruitt received his bachelor’s degree in zoology from the University of Texas at Austin before pursuing his medical degree at UT Southwestern. After completing a general surgery residency program at the University of Florida Medical Center, Dr. Pruitt returned to UT Southwestern to perform his residency in diagnostic radiology and fellowship in abdominal imaging. Dr. Pruitt is the radiology liaison at Parkland Hospital for the trauma division of UT Southwestern’s Department of Surgery, and he is the main radiology contact for Parkland Urology. He also plays an integral role in thyroid cancer imaging at Parkland. At UT Southwestern, Dr. Pruitt conducts clinical research with the departments of Urology, Trauma Surgery, and Endocrine Surgery, which has resulted in multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals, as well as three posters at national meetings. He also oversees the training of radiology fellows and residents. In addition to serving on numerous committees within UT Southwestern and the Radiology Department, Dr. Pruitt is a member of national and international committees and societies, including the Urotrauma Guidelines Panel, the Radiological Society of North America, the American Roentgen Ray Society, the American College of Radiology, the Society of Abdominal Radiology, the American Medical Association, and the Texas Medical Association. Among his many honors and awards, Dr. Pruitt is proud of receiving the UT Southwestern Golden Apple Award, recognizing excellence in teaching.
