Meet Dr. Farnaz JahangiriObstetrics and Gynecology Specialist
For a teenage girl or young woman, the first visit to a gynecologist can be crucial for future health habits – a bad experience could discourage her from ever going back. So Farnaz Jahangiri, M.D., tries to make it easier. She talks girls and young women through that stressful first appointment, making sure they understand the process and putting them at ease. “I know how scary it can be,” she says.
We're not just a big research institution. We do patient care, too – and we have access to any subspecialist.”
Dr. Jahangiri brings that humane approach to patients of all ages. As a board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist, she offers care across a woman’s lifespan, including surgery, prenatal care and deliveries, hormone therapy, vaginal and vulvar problems, and the assessment and treatment of post-menopausal disorders.
For patients who need surgery, she performs not only standard operations but also minimally invasive robotic surgery. That gentler and more precise option can be ideal for many women, including those who have had multiple operations in the past and those who may face a higher risk of complications, such as infection.
Whether caring for mothers, teens, or surgical patients, Dr. Jahangiri always emphasizes clear communication. She vividly recalls watching her non-English-speaking parents nod yes to a doctor whose words they didn’t comprehend. That taught her how important it is for patients to understand their doctors, whether or not they’re native English speakers.
“We use a lot of jargon,” she says, “and sometimes there is literally a language barrier. I’m sensitive to that, because I’ve been there personally.”
