Dr. Jahangiri, who is a member of the Division of General Obstetrics and Gynecology, came to UT Southwestern from Austin where she was in private practice from 2007-2011. A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, she received her medical degree from UT Southwestern Medical School and completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Northwestern University Medical School where she was chief resident during her 4th year.

Dr. Jahangiri is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and is a Fellow of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.  She is trained in minimally invasive surgery, including endometrial ablation, hysteroscopic (no incision) sterilization, and robotic surgery using the da Vinci Robot.

People are surprised to learn that Dr. Jahangiri moved to the United States when she was 10 and to discover that Farsi – not English – is her first language. They tell her that she’s “as American as apple pie.” Having experienced first hand the lost feeling of being in a medical system where everyone speaks English, she can relate to patients whose first language is not English. She’s been translating for family members at doctor’s visits ever since she can remember.

Dr. Jahangiri provides obstetrical, gynecological and well-woman care to women of all ages. When she’s not working, she enjoys outdoor activities and spending time with her husband and baby daughter.
