Biography Dr. Benitez earned his medical degree and his specialty in Emergency Medicine from the University of Puerto Rico. He then pursued a fellowship in Emergency Medical Services (EMS) at the University of Texas Southwestern (UTSW) Medical Center at Dallas, Texas. During his fellowship, he also completed the coursework for a Masters Degree in Public Health from the University of Texas, Houston. After the Fellowship, he joined the Emergency Medicine Training Program at UTSW as a faculty member and became a Diplomate of the American Board of Emergency Medicine. Currently he is a Professor of Emergency Medicine and serves as the Assistant Medical Director for Scene Response and Field Operations for the Dallas Metropolitan BIOTEL (EMS) System.
