Biography

Dr. Douglas Sammer grew up in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. After completing college, he attended medical school at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. He graduated 1st in his medical school class, with a 4.0 GPA. He then went to the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where he trained for 6 years in Plastic, Hand, and Reconstructive surgery. After completing this residency, he went on to undergo fellowship training in Hand Surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. After completing his training at the Mayo Clinic in 2008, Dr. Sammer practiced hand surgery at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri. Two years later, in 2010, he joined the Department of Plastic Surgery at UT Southwestern, where he practices hand surgery and directs the hand surgery fellowship.
