Biography

Angela A. Guzzetta, MD, FACS is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at UT Southwestern.  She is a general and bariatric surgeon who practices at the Dallas VA.

Dr. Guzzetta earned her bachelor's degree in Biology from Boston University and her medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.  She completed a residency in general surgery at Rutgers University New Jersey Medical School. Afterwards, she completed a fellowship in Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery at UT Southwestern.

Certified by the American Board of Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Guzzetta joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2019.

Dr. Guzzetta is an author of The General Surgery Intern Handbook. Her research interests include bariatric surgery and surgical simulation.  She has published numerous scholarly articles.

In 2021 Dr. Guzzetta was appointed the Surgical Simulation Director for General Surgery.  In that capacity, she is dedicated to providing immersive, evidence-based, and customized learning experience for surgery residents at all levels.
